Welcome to Muhelnberg Elementary Center's
Pupil Services Department
At Muhlenberg Elementary Center, we have a comprehensive Pupil Services team comprised of school counselors and a school social worker. Elementary school counselors are educators trained in child development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a comprehensive school counseling program and collaborate with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, elementary school counselors help their students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop social/emotional skills in response to issues they face. School social workers are trained mental health professionals that act as the link between home, school, and community. They provide direct and indirect services to students and families, working to promote and support the overall well-being of our school community. The school social worker works closely with all staff in the school to ensure that the social, emotional, and physical needs are being met for our students both in and out of the school setting. Together, the school counselors and school social worker collaborate on a daily basis to provide a safe space for the students at MEC.
