WELCOME TO HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT THE JUNIOR HIGH!
My name is Mrs. Aimee Walter and I am the 7th grade Wellness teacher at the Junior High School. This is my seventh year as a teacher in the district and my first year at the Junior High. I am excited about teaching Health and Physical Education this school year. It is very important for students to be physically active for at least 60 minutes per day. It is my goal to have all students participate to the physical levels they are comfortable with. Students will have a variety of choices for activities/sports they would like to engage in during Physical Education classes. Health lessons will include topics such as Body Systems (Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular, and Respiratory), Wellness topics that include Physical, Mental, and Social Health, Drugs, Alcohol, & Tobacco/Vaping, and any other topics that deem relevant to address. My overview on wellness at this grade level is to build off of skills previously taught to utilize in a team setting, to work on effective communication, to achieve wellness/activity goals, and most importantly:
TO HAVE FUN WHILE DOING SO!
During the school year, the students will meet for class 3 out of the 6 cycle days. They will be able to choose 1 out of 4 different activities to engage in while in Physical Education class. During Health class, they will have opportunities to collaborate with a partner and in groups to complete projects that will be presented to the classroom. At the end of the school year, students will be able to participate in outdoors activities during a Field Day experience.
I hope to be able to inspire students to find something they enjoy and excel at during the course of the school year. It is important to find time to be active everyday and I am here to help give students those tools to do so. I hope you enjoy my page and have a wonderful school year. GO MUHLS!!!
