    Science fair

This year’s seventh and eighth-grade Science Fair project will be introduced to students starting in the next few weeks.  The project may cover any topic in the science or engineering field. Students should consider their own personal areas of interst and work to identify a problem to solve or question they want answered. Guided assignments for each portion of the project will be provided in class leading up the the fair. Inquiry and the scientific method must be present in the execution of the project.

Students will have a graded interview and will be given the option of entering their project in the Reading-Berks Science and Engineering Fair. For more information on the Reading-Berks Science and Engineering Fair please visit the RBSEF link.

Below are brief descriptions of what an experimental project and an engineering project are.

    Experimental Project
    - Students will be required to perform an on-going experiment where-by they compile data over the course of 6 weeks (minimum) pertaining to their experiment. They will be responsible for following the time-line and completing the minimum requirement listed on the grading sheet.

    Engineering Project
    - Students will be required to construct a working prototype pertaining to the subject matter of their project. It must be constructed in a way that shows skillful planning and a clear connection to the scientific method and demonstrates how it will address the student identified problem. They will be responsible for following the time-line and completing at least the minimum requirements listed on the grading sheet.
