The Muhlenberg High School library currently serves over 1,100 students and 100 faculty and staff. High school students library utilize the library during study halls and scheduled periods for class assignment. The program of instruction is planned and integrated within the school curriculum in grades 9-12 in cooperation with faculty. The use of library resources and the mastery of library skills are developed through use and application. All planned courses of study incorporate library skills in their written curriculum.
The high school library will also feature a state of the art computer lab at the start of the 2006-2007 school year. High school students will have the opportunity to utilize a variety of online resources including databases, e-books, the library catalog, and other internet sources. All online resources are launched from the libraries interactive website that utilizes pathfinders, bibliography tools and educational websites to assist students with their research.
Students and staff have access to over 21,000 books and an extensive magazine collection in the high school library. The collection is always growing and changing as we work to support the curricular needs of faculty and the current interests of our students.
Our participation in the AccessPA gives students and teachers access to the over 11 million titles of the participating schools and universities. The Power Library project allows access to thousands of full-text magazine and newspaper articles, a major encyclopedia, and many other electronic reference sources.
Students may borrow up to five research books and three recreational reading titles for a period of ten school days.
Fine is ten cents/school day for each item. Lost materials must be paid for in full.
