7th Grade

Seventh grade music is built around the students' skills for interpreting the basic styles and elements of music. Students will explore the history of Jazz music and the roots of modern Pop and Rock and Roll music. The second half of the course examines rhythmic notation and performance and the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Unit includes a group project of writing and performing music for classroom percussion instruments.

8th Grade

This course allows students to explore music history including the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and the 20th Century. The second half of the course examines the guitar. Students learn about the basics of the instrument, chords, strumming and look at group and solo evaluation.
