6th Grade

Sixth grade music is built on student skills interpreting basic elements of music -- melody, rhythm, harmony, form, and tone color. A symphony orchestra unit culminates in a field trip to the Rajah Theater for a performance of the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Study of Latin American music correlates with social studies and further develops understanding and appreciation of the culture. The students will also study George Gershwin and complete an instrument project.
