ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION

This program is designed to meet the needs of students permanently or temporarily handicapped or who have functional defects or deficiencies amenable to improvement through exercise. It is integrated with regular physical education where conditions allow.

HEALTH EDUCATION I

It is recommended that this course be taken in grade 9. It provides basic information in the attitudes and pattern of human behavior. Emphasis is on addictive diseases, community health, human growth and development, mental health, and personal hygiene.

HEALTH EDUCATION II

It is recommended that this course be taken in grade 11. It aids and encourages young people to discover their unique capabilities and responsibilities for developing attitudes and patterns of behavior that promote independent and informed decisions concerning their physical, mental, and social well being. Emphasis is on health careers, life support responses, mental health, personal hygiene, marriage and family relationships, and hereditary and environmental influences.

DRIVER EDUCATION, FALL SEMESTER & DRIVER EDUCATION, SPRING SEMESTER

This course emphasizes helping young people save lives. Much material in this course is selected because of its relation to the life or death aspect of driving. Behind-the-wheel instruction is given to those students who desire to take advantage of it. Students who will be 16 years old prior the end of the first semester of 10th grade should schedule the fall semester course. For the behind-the-wheel phase, students must be 16 years of age and possess a valid learner's permit or driver's license. The student arranges for behind-the-wheel training with the instructor. This is scheduled during the student's study halls.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION ELECTIVES
