photo2005-2006 Strategic Goals

Educational

  1. Analyze standardized, state, and local assessment data to identify program strengths and areas of need. Review course offerings and revise grade level and department curriculum documents to align with state standards and address district needs.
  2. Implement the PA Benchmark Assessment Initiative in grades 3 - 8 to ensure that Adequate Yearly Progress is achieved in reading and mathematics. Use the assessment results to identify individual students who need additional support and develop plans to address the needs and improve student achievement.
  3. Review the curriculum and learning environment of the high school and develop extended learning opportunities to meet the needs of students in grades 9 - 12. Explore available federal, state, and private grant funding possibilities to support these programs.
  4. Develop specific building, grade level, and department action plans for improving student achievement and attaining measurable achievement goals. Use assessment results to continuously monitor progress toward the established goals. Revise action plans in relation to progress monitoring.
  5. Schedule quality professional education opportunities designed to help teachers refine and implement effective teaching strategies, improve student achievement, and strengthen district support programs.

Managerial

  1. Develop a long-range plan to address district alignment and building needs created by increasing enrollments at all building levels. Continue to explore the feasibility of the proposed C. E. Cole renovation project.
  2. Study the building organization and school environment at all building levels. Explore building arrangements that are student-centered, results-focused, data informed, and personalized in a way that is supported by systems, resources, technology and shared leadership.
  3. Form a committee to review and revise the plan for Professional Employee Supervision and Evaluation.
  4. Work in partnership with the Reading School District to complete the additions and renovation project at the Reading-Muhlenberg Area Vocational Technical School.
  5. Provide required training opportunities for administrative and support staff members to support district policies and initiatives.

Community

  1. Compile building and district assessment data and disseminate to the school community via a district report card.
  2. Generate opportunities for collaborative relationships between Muhlenberg School District and community organizations. Encourage participation in seminars, meetings, committee work, and district programs (e.g. graduation projects, career development).
  3. Expand the district web site and encourage its use as a communications venue for the school community.
  4. Foster positive relationships with the community by extending media coverage of student and staff accomplishments.
